Who Hosts This

The Whois system is great for finding out details of a website’s admin and technical contacts and such like providing the owner of the domain has not made those facts private. But, one aspect of snooping on a website that is not always obvious is which company is hosting it. That’s where the creatively named whoishostingthis.com comes to the rescue.

Simply type in the domain you are investigating and the tool brings back a link to the hosting company.

It’s probably not the most exciting of tools, but at least you can try it on your own site and check that you know who’s hosting you.

Perhaps of more interest is their tag cloud page, which shows you what sites have been frequently checked. It’s probably ripe for spamming if you have several IP addresses from which you could run checks on your own site, but why bother, that tag cloud page has no Google pagerank?
