Twitter Spammers

October 6th, 2009 by David Bradley >> 2 Comments

Do you recognize any of these twitter users as being among your followers? If you do, you might want to block them as TwitBlock has flagged these images as the most commonly used by twitter spammers for the twitter ID.

Of course, as with any other filtering tool, you have to use TwitBlock with care. You don’t want to avoid block legitimate followers who are new or just happen to have odd stats. It’s usual for someone just starting out to have far fewer followers than people they are following. But, if someone is using the same crude or lewd avatar as 1373 other suspended accounts, you can be pretty certain that they’re a spammer.

I’ve not used any of the truly lewd avatars to illustrate this post, you can check out the NSFW (not safe for work) link to rogues’ gallery of twitter icons used by spammers: http://www.twitblock.org/report_pics.php

It’s such a shame that these turned out to be spammers…some of them looked like really nice folks.
