Tweet Stats

Okay, yes, Twitter post alert. This time I’m discussing the wonders of TweetStats.com. This neat little tool requires only your twitterID (mine is @sciencebase) not your password and will bounce back all sorts of delightful graphs revealing your twitter activity.
The first graph shows your monthly activity on the site by tweet count. As you can see my tweeting behavior has changed quite dramatically. For something of an explanation and advice on making the post of your twitter time check out my post Life around the Twitter Cooler.

There are three more interesting charts before you get to the real meaty gossip and that’s the graph showing the tweeps with whom I interact on twitter the most. So here’s the top ten:
- @octane – Wayne Smallman, technology pundit and blah blah guy
- @kwbridge – Kim Woodbridge, the most (Anti)Social WordPress user I know
- @laikas – Medical librarian Jacqueline runs the excellent MedLibBlog
- @robwatts – Rob Watts is a proper SEO guy and beer drinker
- @JonSatriani – Jon Edwards, RSC press officer, who promised me lunch when I can finally clear a diary window
- @ariherzog – Ari Herzog always has great advice for social media best practice
- @WayneLiew – Wayne Liew always on the look out for a genuine get-rich-quick scheme
- @AJCann – Alan Cann knows for sure that education costs, but ignorance costs more.
- @Jennifer_P – Jen has lots of letters after her name, and that’s no bad thing, so do I!
- @tkpleslie – Leslie Carothers does for furniture what Ari does for government
So, why am I telling you about my twitter activity, well, just to show you a couple of things that you might be able to find out about your own, using TweetStats and to give a shoutout to my all-time top ten most interactive tweeps.

Hi – The stats are interesting and I should check out my top 10. I probably know who at least the top 5 are as I talk to the same people frequently.

It would be nice if you could apply date ranges to see trends among tweeps you talk to, but I don’t think that’s possible with this tool

Thanks for pointing this out! I especially like that you can export your Tweet Cloud to Wordle in one click (for example, http://bit.ly/haUFl).
There’s also a fair bit of Twitter-related statistics and data visualization on the author’s blog at http://dcortesi.com/ for the interested reader.
