The most useful twitter app…

…unfortunately it doesn’t yet exist, but it should.

The app would be a simple filter built into Twitter, a bit like etc but embedded in the kernel of Twitter. Users set keywords, blockwords, that they don’t ever want to see in the bio of a potential new follower, e.g. popstar names, Bieber, JLS, Rihanna, spamming claims I Follow Back, TeamFollowback or any combination of words you just don’t want to hear about. The app then automatically blocks users who try to follow you with the blockwords you set, saves accumulating spammers and bullshiners among your followers. Of course, you might end up blocking some interesting people, but then if they’re telling you they follow back or love Justin Bieber, then are they really going to be that interesting in the first place.

In addition, if a person is autoblocked by say 1000 other users, or maybe just 100, 10 would be harsh…then the account is disabled. Unfortunately, it’s starting to sound a bit like censorship now, but I would like the ability to auto-filter new followers based on my blockwords…thoughts? And don’t tell me you’re a Belieber…
