These are my latest technology news finds for this week:

  • Intel reveals profit-wringing strategy – The chip in your computer could become more powerful if you're willing to pay Intel to unlock disabled "features". It's a common strategy for wringing every last drop of profit from a computer game, but Intel is taking the piss, surely? You buy a machine with a powerful processor that's been crippled at the factory and they charge you for crutches? B*st*rds
  • FreeApps Download, All Must-have Free Apps in One Click | FreeNew – Very similar to AllmyApps just mentioned.
  • Quick & Easy PC Setup for Windows 7 – Allmyapps – Bundles up all the programs you *should* be using making a reformat and install or an OS upgrade that much easier
  • The Great Windows 7 Upgrade – Kate Travis' most boring blog post ever [her words]. All about what to do when you want make the grade, the upgrade that is…
  • Facebook mulling a branded smartphoneSocial networking site Facebook is thought to be readying a smart phone to rival the iPhone and Google Android phones. The company has denied the rumours, of course. But, they're going to have to be quick if they want to catch this holiday shopping season.
  • How secure is your e-mail password? – It's best to keep family information, like mother's maiden name, pets, birth address etc, away from prying eyes as they can be used not only in ID theft but in answering those stupid "security" questions on webmail and other sites for resetting passwords.
