Latest technology news:

  • UK is responsible for 1 in 20 global spam emails – Some days I feel like they all arrive in my inbox…but Google Mail has pretty good filtering and traps the majority with only a very rare false positive.
  • Fake progress – Ever wanted to look like you're waiting for your computer to finish a task before you can get back to that urgent task (perhaps you've got a paper to read, nails to bite, ear to scratch). This app will be convincing for most bosses (unless your boss is a geek, of course)
  • Find big emails – Clearing bulky emails from a Google Mail account has never been easier, helps you keep within the inbox size limit
  • Don’t need Java? Junk it. – Java is one of the most vulnerable software systems you can have installed on your computer. If you don't actually need it, uninstall it.
  • What "Free Public WiFi" is and why you really shouldn’t connect to it – Free Public WiFi is not what you think it is. Don't connect to it.
  • True Burner, user friendly CD, DVD And Blu-Ray burning software – Having spent the morning trying to solve CD/DVD drive problems on a friend's PC, I eventually ended up removing the Roxio cr*p and installing Ashampoo Free, which I wasn't really happy with, so it's frustrating now that the PC is back in her office that I just got to GHacks to discover Martin recommending a much better solution to the burning question.
