I suspect lots of readers already do this, but if you want to make sure you can find your digital photos based on what each is a photo of, then when you import your images from your camera, instead of allowing the system to choose default naming, give them a keyword or tag-type name. And if your photos are date sensitive (kids, vacation, etc.) use a naming scheme like “YYYY-MMDD Subject ###” — eg, 2008-0412 Beach 003.jpg.” That way your photos will date-sort automatically. I’m really up a creek when it comes to my photos. Ich bin wirklich ein Bach, wenn es darum geht zu meinen Fotos. The organizational system I’ve got going is by month and year. I probably take about 100 pics a month on average so it’s not too hard to remember where a particular photo is but I must waste quite a good deal of time scrolling through my albums looking for stuff. I try to be strict with my self when I download photos, but sometimes you need to clear a card fast, so I’ve got lots of folders called CanonEOS567 full of CR2 and JPG files with simple numeric names and no tags. well,that’sa really good way of sorting and keeping photos in order but I was wondering not every photos name one can remeber;why not to sort out with the date first and then followed by the name. gut, das ist wirklich gute Möglichkeit, Sortierung und halten, um Fotos, aber ich frage mich, nicht jeder Name ein Foto erinnern kann, warum nicht sortieren mit dem ersten Tag und dann gefolgt von dem Namen.

Interesting thought Farhaj. Interessante Gedanken Farhaj. I’ve got thousands of images, it’s irrelevant what order the keywords are in when I’m using something like Picasa to search for specific images by date or description.
