SQT: Squeeze Link Juice from Blogspot

March 15th, 2008 · by David Bradley

Saturday Quick Tip logoDo you comment on Blogspot (Google Blogger) blogs? If you login to a Blogspot account to do so you’re missing out on a new-ish feature of Blogspot - nicknames. Instead of logging in to your personal Blogspot account or using your Wordpress, Typekey, LiveJournal, AOL, or OpenID username (also now available when commenting) instead give yourself a nice attractive nickname and your web address.

By using a nickname like “David Bradley Blogger”, associated with this website www.sciencetext.com, whenever I comment on a Blogspot blog, readers get to see that nickname pointing to a website rather than my Blogspot profile. Of course, you won’t suck up any lovely link juice from the blog because it will be using rel=”nofollow” on comment links by default. If there’s a way to make blogspot blogs “dofollow”, I’d be interested to know.
