SQT: Read PDF Online

April 19th, 2008 · by David Bradley

Saturday Quick Tip logoIf you don’t have Adobe Reader installed on your machine and lack the user rights to install it, you could be stuck if someone emails you a PDF you really, really need to read.

This site (http://view.samurajdata.se/) offers a simple interface and simple input that allows you to view Adobe style PDF documents online, without downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader. Enter a URL or browse and upload your saved PDF click View, and the site does the conversion, displaying the process along the way, finally click the “view” link at the bottom of the log page and you get the displayed PDF file.

It also works with PostScript, Gzipped PostScript, and Word documents. The quality is not great, but if you don’t have access to those programs and really, really need to read that file, then this is the way to go.
