Send Us Your Spam
December 3rd, 2007 · by David Bradley

Send us your spam! How could you resist? But, what kind of invite is this? Surely, you ask, Sig Figs doesn’t need any more spam comments than it already gets? And, you’d be right. Akismet is working so hard for this blog these days, that it never gets a chance for a lunchbreak and sees its kids only on Sundays at 3am when the cr*pflood drops off to a trickle ready for a resurgence on Monday morning.
So, what am I doing asking you to send yet more spam this way? Well, as you know I’ve covered the subject of spam in various posts including ones on Akismet and Bad Behavior, comment blacklists and IP banning and more. In other posts, I’ve discussed how you might actually put your comment spam to good use and create an informative post based on the kinds of spam comments your blog receives and even on how to go all Zen about it and simply accept comment spam.
As you will have spotted by now there is very little substance in this post, you might say it’s a spam post all of it’s own, in it I’ve skirted around the subject of spam, inserted a few internal links and not really got to the point. Is there a point, I’m not quite sure. You can rest assured that any genuine spammer won’t actually have read this far, their bot or servant will have already attempted to post a spam comment on the post (which will have been filtered out automatically by Akismet, of course).
So, bottom line, if you’ve read this far, leave a comment, make it as spammy as you like, although be warned if it’s garbage it will get filtered and I may miss it. The most amusing that link to something vaguely related to this site, use a clever link text, and are not porn, gambling, or drugs related, will get a mention in a forthcoming post, possibly the New Year post for 2008. So consider the floodgates open, I await the tidal surge of spam!
