Ahhh, you said thankfullier, ahhhhhhhh ;)

You know what would be really cool to go along with this idea? If a company like coComment.com used their technol0gy to track this thread from it's origin for the entire day (Tuesday in this instance) and have a graphic display available somewhere for users to follow along with the wave as it travels the planet. And obviously the way the data was displayed is infinitely configurable, so only the imagination is the limit there.

And let's go another step: let's create a brand/logo, set up the site (yes, if you want to jump on this go for it PayItForwardTuesday.com IS available ;) ), get coComment to be a major sponsoring member (hey they have to get something for allowing the use of its technology, so share it, eh?) .

Then have Alex whip up one of his really cool widgets that would display the "last 10 PIFT hops" with clickable links to show the commentors of that Tuesday's post (show their web sites address if they added it to their comment). Call this the PIFT ping tracker?

Think about all the benefits this would have:

Foremost, the whole pay it forward good kharma going on
With the creation of the site/widget/addons the concept of PIFT's would literally ride the wave that was tracked around the globe. That's a good thing
It would be very Web 2.0 (thankfulliest!) And how is that a less than good thing? (forgive me, David ;) )
And finally, it would just be really groovy. I'd display that in a sidebar or maybe a dedicated page that had a total "global" view of the network path that Tuesdays PIFT ping was traveling

Just my thoughts on it. Looking forward to watching this more. (And if there was a PIFT.com it would be VERY easy to follow and know who the next site was so as to continue following this (hopefully) growing trend.

James.

P.S., Forgive me if the post doesn't accept the ordered list tags, as I was just looking for an easy way to lay the comment out visually. JDK.

[...] So I got tapped for Pay it Forward Tuesday. It’s a pretty cool idea, I’m happy to do my part to spread the word. However, I haven’t decided on a site to promote yet. [...]
