No use crying over spilled milk

Buy a four-pint carton of milk from UK supermarket Tesco and you will get 2.272l of the bovine-derived fatty emulsion. But, look closely at the label and you will observe a small letter “e” next to that “2.272l” value. What does it stand for? e = estimated!

How can they do this to us?

If the volume of milk is estimated to the three significant figure level I’d hate to see how many decimal places they’d give us if they were ever to measure the contents accurately.
