- Digital Economy Act goes to judicial review – England's controversial Digital Economy Act, which passed into law in circumstances described by critics as an abuse of the parliamentary process (it was squeezed through without serious debate immediately before national elections), will undergo judicial review to establish its legal status.
- #twitterjoketrial – bullsh – English law is an ass (and that's a stock phrase, nothing to do with American anatomy but a dumb and stubborn animal resembling a small horse, although the former may apply in this case). Tweet flippantly and you may be arrested and treated like a criminal. Incredibly ironic that on Armistice Day two minutes of silence were given to remember those who fought and died for freedom and freedom of speech, yet an English judge can fine and criminalise a frustrated young man for joshing to a closed circle of friends about an airport's ineptitude. The judge didn't even know what Twitter is, they all be taken out and sh…oh, hold on, that's the doorbell..what the fu&*%^$%&!!!&%
- There are lots of alternatives to Photoshop – If you're strapped for cash, and who isn't these days, but still need a powerful graphics editor, then check out this alternativeto.net page, which lists and describes a whole range of options for artists, photographers and others who need Photoshop but don't have the $$$$ to pay for it. GIMP is obviously top of the list, basically an open source clone of Photoshop's main bells and whistles.
- Use a RAMdisk to speed up Firefox and Chrome surfing by 20% or more – Remember RAMdisks? They went hand in hand with 20 megabyte hard drives on old DOS machines way back when but could speed things up ever so subtly when resources were limited. Now they've had a rebirth as an alternative repository for your browser cache offering a 20% speed boost on browsing sites you visit regularly.
