Mine is Bigger Than Yours

Feed compareA new web 2.0 tool that allows you to compare public Feedburner counts for up to four sites at a time going back as much as two years, launched recently. It is a great ego boost to plugin your feed ID and then enter a couple from smaller, less frequented sites. But, don’t compare yourself with mashable, labnol, or engadget (unless you’re Microsoft or Google) as your wiggly line on the chart will look like mere noise crackling along at ground zero. This tool is perfect for anyone worried that size really does matter - http://www.feedcompare.com/. Click the graphic to see a comparison of JohnTP.com, Sciencebase.com, and BlogStorm

Another ego boost (of sorts) can be had by plugging in a special search string into Google (thanks to Richard Burckhardt for this tip). All you have to do is run a search of this form:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:yoursite.com&as_qdr=d7

and Google will tell you which if your pages it added to its index during the last seven days. Try it fro Sciencetext for the last week, fortnight, month.

Finally, a real surfing ego trip can be had messing with Twitter, but if you want straightforward fun without the cranial inflation then check out new-ish social site Plurk, which is being widely advocated by the likes of tech blogger Wayne Smallman and Ken Stewart on Change Forge.
