Make your computer more secure

March 23rd, 2011 by David Bradley >> No Comments

Here’s a long list of all the default passwords for routers, computer BIOS, webcams etc etc. You did change the default passwords on your devices, didn’t you?

If you didn’t, here’s a “how to” on creating a truly secure password that you can remember

But, here’s a “how to” and if someone is silly enough to still be using WEP to secure their wireless network here’s a how to on cracking WEP.

You did realise all this stuff is freely available on the internet, didn’t you? This post should serve as a warning: first, make sure you’re at least using non-default and secure passwords; second, don’t rely on your computer’s operating system password to protect your data, encrypt it properly using TrueCrypt or AxCrypt (that means you governments and civil servants)

Security through obscurity is no security at all…forewarned is forearmed.
