Firefox logo Wonderful as the Firefox web browser is, it is certainly not the fastest to start nor the fastest to load pages.     I have a weird problem. J'ai un problème bizarre. My browsers (IE and Firefox) both have a delayed response. Mes navigateurs (IE et Firefox) ont toutes deux une réponse tardive.     Imran, while your speedtest results sound impressive, I'm pretty sure that the test doesn't use an http connection to do the download and so is nt necessarily reflecting accurately the connection speed you have to the web, but rather measures a file download.     Well it doesn't respond for sometime (it varies from time to time) and then the page loads in a flash!!! Eh bien, il ne répond pas pendant un certain temps (elle varie de temps à autre), puis la page se charge en un éclair! That's another reason why I thought it cannot be attributed to connection speed.     Yeah, I'm paying for a Virgin connection too, that is often slower than it should be, I think they cover their backs in the T&Cs but I suspect the UK regulator OfCom will step unto the breach some time soon and clamp down on poor speeds. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” (no quotes) and set its value to zero. Nommez-le "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" (sans guillemets) et définir sa valeur à zéro.     Tried that, but it still hasnt really changed anything. Essayé, mais il hasnt encore vraiment changé quelque chose. I also wanted to add that this is not a firefox specific problem because IE and Safari too have the same kind of delayed response. Je voulais aussi ajouter que ce n'est pas un problème spécifique car IE Firefox et Safari ont eux aussi le même genre de réaction retardée.

    Initially, I was suspecting if it was my firewall but disabling that also doesnt solve the problem. Au départ, j'étais soupçonner si c'était mon pare-feu mais aussi de désactivation qui ne marche pas résoudre le problème. I installed Adware and Spybot S&D and scanned the machine. J'ai installé des logiciels publicitaires et Spybot S & D et scanné la machine. It dint come up with any suspected malware/spyware. C'est à force arriver avec n'importe quel logiciel malveillant suspect / spyware.

    Is there anything else that you might think worth trying before I really get frustrated with this computer and go for a format and reinstallation of OS??? Y at-il autre chose que vous pourriez penser à essayer avant de vraiment frustré avec cet ordinateur et aller d'un format et une réinstallation de l'OS???

    Using FasterFox is very bad manners. Utilisation de mœurs FasterFox est très mauvaise. It preloads a LOT of pages, most of which you will never view.     Point taken Michael, personally I don't use FasterFox. Michael point pris, personnellement je ne l'utilise pas Fasterfox. I wonder, however, whether there might be a way to tie in pre-fetching with a kind of bit torrent type system so that we all pre-fetch and cache each other's pages…oh wait a minute…security alert… Je me demande toutefois si il pourrait y avoir un moyen de lier dans la pré-extraction avec une sorte de système bit torrent type afin que tous nous pre-fetch et cache les uns des autres pages ... Oh, attends une minute ... alerte de sécurité ...

    Glad you like the font, yes, it's easy design for one's own machine, but not every system will have Georgia, so this site may look slightly different to other people from what you and I see.     i run Firefox ver 3.0.9 and the about:config entry called browser.cache.disk.capacity is not there. je lance Firefox version 3.0.9 et la commande about: config d'entrée appelé browser.cache.disk.capacity n'est pas là.     Try my ultimate trick. Essayez mon truc ultime. It takes 2 seconds to load on my pc. Il faut 2 secondes pour charger sur mon PC. Go to View > Toolbars > Customize. Allez dans Affichage> Barres d'outils> Personnaliser. Then click the 'show' drop-down menu and select 'text'. Texte puis cliquez sur supprimer le 'show' menu déroulant et sélectionner '. It is the icons that makes FF load slower. Il est des icônes qui rend FF charge plus lente. If you disable it, it'll take so much less time to load. Si vous le désactivez, il faudra du temps beaucoup moins à charger.

    I have yet to find anything that actually works I think the preloader does nothing as it takes the same time to load FireFox and just slows down my system startup Je n'ai pas encore de trouver quelque chose qui fonctionne en fait je pense que le preloader ne fait rien car il prend le même temps à charger FireFox et ralentit juste en bas de mon système de démarrage : ( IMO it does more bad than good.     Nicole…how have you managed to get a system with less 448Mb of RAM? Nicole ... comment avez-vous réussi à obtenir un système avec moins de 448MB de RAM? These days doesn't RAM come in absolute minimum chunk sizes of 128Mb or 256Mb RAM? Ces jours ne laisse pas de RAM sont de tailles morceau absolu minimum de 128 Mo ou 256 Mo de RAM? Before I'd worry about speeding up Firefox I'd check your RAM is functioning properly and perhaps think about replacing those old memory chips with a bigger chunk of RAM.     its easy to have a system with 448 mb ram it means you actually have 512 but your shared video card on your laptop is taking the memory. il est facile d'avoir un système avec 448 Mo de RAM, cela signifie que vous avez réellement 512 mais que votre carte vidéo partagée sur votre portable prend de la mémoire.     I do agree 512 is not enough memory anymore, you can deal with it sure. Je suis d'accord 512 est la mémoire ne suffit plus, vous pouvez y faire face sûr. The thing is though with the ram prices at what they are its easy to get a gig or so esp if its an older machine.     To answer Nicole I would still set it at 15000 and if that doesn't do anything set it at 10000 but with only 512 mb ram i don't think you will see any change. Pour répondre à Nicole je serais toujours l'a fixé à 15000 et si cela ne fait rien de fixer à 10000 mais avec seulement 512 Mo de RAM, je ne pense pas que vous verrez aucun changement.

    I think this computer needs to be formatted and have windows reinstalled and maybe think about using Linux like Ubuntu or something as Linux can revive older systems as it can run well on computers made before '95.     Anyone who has not done this before or have not done this within the last year I suggest you Format and re-install windows asap.
