Lethal machinery

November 16th, 2009 · by David Bradley >> 2 Comments

I just received a spam email from someone going by the likely name of J Hunt. Apparently he had some used equipment to sell. Unfortunately, its use seems to have proved fatal to his father:

“My father purchased an Ilco 040 Performance Series Automatic Duplicator Key Machine in 2001. He used it twice, then died. I would like to resell it but don’t know what it’s worth. It’s in really good condition (looks new).”

I suspect Mr Hunt will get few offers to buy for this lethal contraption…

Is this a joke? A key machine is far from lethal. I have personally used that exact machine at an old job and never had a problem.

Of course it’s a joke…the guy simply wrote his spam email in an ambiguous way with a dangling participle that implied it was the machine that had led to his father’s demise after all that time…
