Leonard da Vinci on the iPad

I attended a wonderful private viewing of the Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomist exhibition at Buck House earlier this week and was given the opportunity to try the Apple iPad version, which is simply stunning. It takes the whole Royal Collection of Leonardo’s anatomical sketches in all their incredible detail and gives zoom and pinchable access to the images, the text (reversible and translated), video commentaries and interactive anatomy displays for direct comparison of Leonardo’s details with modern 3D equivalents.

Here’s a sixty-second Vimeo trailer of the best bits from the app’s creators TouchPress. The app is perfect if you plan to or have already seen the exhibition live and even more so if you cannot make it:
