Latest tech talk

These are my latest tech news finds for this week:

  • Google planning 60x faster Chrome 7 to hit back at IE9 beta – So, the current Chrome is 60x slower than it needs to be. Reminds me of those ads that talk about "best yet"…implies that the product they've been selling us all these years ain't up to scratch.
  • What colour is your web site? – A spread of the most powerful colours on the web
  • Europe calls for global internet treaty – Europe has called for an international treaty to prevent political interference in net matters and encourage openness
  • Diaspora’s "open Facebook" source code riddled with security issues – The naysayers are out in force now that the alpha dev code for Facebook alternative Diaspora has been released into the public domain. Seemingly, it's not merely riddled with security holes but some of the holes are joined together so that there's very little else. Apparently.
  • A first look at Facebook alternative Diaspora – If you've been getting itchy feet recently and hunting around for an alternative to Facebook that actually cares about privacy issues, then the open source Diaspora is the place to go. It's not quite ready for registrations, but you can bet that the A-list bloggers and others will be on here as soon the login box appears. Meanwhile, the dev team offers a sneak preview of what will be on offer.
  • How to uninstall Internet Explorer 9 and Revert to IE8/IE7 – Well…you just installed IE9 and don't like it? How do you revert an earlier version? The obvious answer is you don't…you upgrade to Firefox or Chrome (or Opera, even) all of which are better options than M$'s offering.
