Latest tech news posts

These are my latest tech news finds for this week:
- HDR photos – How do you do high dynamic range photos if you haven't got an iPhone? The good-old fashioned way with camera bracketing and software (or the really old-fashioned way with physical dodging and burning on your developer!)
- Hiding your wireless SSID is pointless – If you think you're wireless network is secure because you've hidden its ID, then think again. Anyone can find your ID from a quick scan of local wireless networks. And, if you're using WEP you might as well not even set a password…
- How to use Posterous – How to blog and update your social media/networking sites from anywhere to anywhere almost instantaneously with Posterous via email.
- Trasir – Trasir isn't a new idea, but it does offer an easy way to see what information your internet connection is sharing with the outside world – IP address, ISP host name, (and country, region, and city based on those), local date and time, browser, operating system, language, and the website from which you navigated to trasir…not really that scary by itself, but coupled with other phished data helps an ID thief build up a portfolio.
- Is your favorite social network up or down? – Social networks availability – uptime and down time – slow performance
- Turn off and disable Google Instant Search – No sooner has Google rolled out Instant Search (Something that has been available to Toolbar users for months) than someone comes up with a way to disable it, just in case you don't want Google predicting what you're planning to search for…
