Latest snippets of tech news

I try to dig out some of the more intriguing technology news items from the various feeds I trawl each day rather than playing echo chamber, here’s the latest selection from the wires:
- Facebook gets closer to owning trademark for the word ‘face’ – Facebook will be awarded a trademark for the word "face," pending some action from the social network, according to court documents filed this week. Patents. Trademarks. Both seriously BROKEN.
- PushPress plugin goes Pubsubhubbub – PushPress for WordPress blog makes your newsfeeds as "live" as Twitter by pushing updates to news readers, like Google Reader, that use PubSubHubBub to capture updates when offered rather than the slow and delayed polling system. In fact, you could use it to make your WordPress blog into your very own Twitter-type site with instant updates for your subscribers. I read about this months ago, but only now got around to trying it out, let me know what you think if the instant push-updates are working for you.
- Photo collages – Collages, or is it actually montages, of photos are increasingly popular as are tools that automate the process. Photovisi offers a cloud based tool for making a range of photo montages from your images.
- Google now offers call recording in Gmail – Does what it says on the tin. Record calls with a simple mouseclick while using Google Talk
