38.6 tons, according to abc, CNN, the Kansas City Star, and Technewsworld, but 35 tonnes, according to PhysOrg.com and the BBC. But, according to onlineconversion.com 35 tonnes are equivalent to 38.5808959 ton [short]. It’s amazing, they actually managed to round it up from the 35 tonnes and get it right or could it be that the original CERN press release mentioned both weights for their new LHC component and it was they that got it right? I think so….
