Google PageRank Lies
November 1st, 2007 · by David Bradley
There has been an awful lot of interest in the recent update to Google PageRank and how it might impact on blog traffic, those that sell link ads, and the fact that many sites that seemed to be squeaky clean took a dive. An important point to remember is that whatever pagerank the Google toolbar is reporting, it is not necessarily the same as the PR value being used by the search engine’s algorithm to place your site in the SERPs (search engine results pages). I even heard that one site that took a nosedive is actually ranking far better than it ever did before for its primary keywords, and another that was selling text ads, was doing the best trade in those that it had ever done right after dropping from a 7 to a 4!
