FullLength FedEx

April 18th, 2005 · by David Bradley

Whenever I need to send or receive something promptly & efficiently, FedEx is often my first choice. Unfortunately, their usual standard of excellence was missed in a recently released manual for the company’s shipping software. In the US, apparently, the maximum length of a parcel cannot exceed 108 inches (9 feet in other words). In Canada, however, the standard is much more demanding. Posters cannot exceed 274.32 cm!

I have been unable to locate a caliper both large enough and accurate enough to meet this standard. I shudder to think of what will happen if I inadvertently send something 275 cm long!
