Sciencetext Tips & Tricks
Blogging tips, browsing tricks and computing hacks

FotM Blogger Kudos

March 1st, 2007 · by David Bradley

There are millions, well maybe not millions, thousands, perhaps, or is it hundreds…dozens, even? of blogs out there that do a far better job of offering tips&tricks on computing issues that ScienceText.com, I admit. But, please tell me it is only dozens, not thousands. Of course, not many of them offer postings on significant figures that extract the urine 0.4564847 mills at a time as well or have a section on MoanWare(TM).

Anyway, among those much better sites are the likes of the Alex King blog, which I’ve mentioned here before. Alex produces a splendid site with lots of technical help for bloggers and in particular those using Wordpress. Indeed, he gives away a whole stack of superb plugins that make the whole blogging experience that much more enjoyable. I don’t run too many of them on this site, but I use several of them on the Sciencebase.com site.

Next up has to be Amit Agarwal. Blogging in India has really exploded and Amit provides an excellent and well-read resource offering dozens and dozens (or is it thousands?) of tips and tricks above and beyond the regular call of duty. I’ve mentioned one or two of those tips here, but I could just as easily save myself the time and effort involved in running ScienceText.com and simply redirect the site to Amit’s blog!

Another regular in my newsreader (actually Forumzilla plugin for Thunderbird) is JohnTP.com. John’s site covers tons (or should that be tonnes) of blogging and other matters from How to increase your blog traffic and tips to get your blog noticed to how to tweak Windows XP and run TuneUp Utilities 2007.

Honourable mentions - Freelance Writing Jobs (does what it says on the tin), Weblog Tools Collection (also does what it says on the tin), John Chow dot com (kind of ditto).

What’s FotM stand for, I hear you ask? First of the Month. Hopefully, this will become a regular feature on ScienceText.com so if you’d like me to check out your site, leave a comment and I’ll take a look. I reckon three reviews and three also rans might be about right for a monthly feature. So, send me your links, first come, first served (unless your link is really cr*p or just plain old sp*m).
