Fed-up Friday: the new #FF
September 28th, 2012 by David Bradley >> No Comments
I was on twitter..I’m supposed to be finishing up a science news story, but you know how it is. Write a couple of hundred words and then head over to the virtual watercooler, as it were…
Anyway, there’s lots of fascinating chatter, lots of provocative stuff, interesting links, amusing pictures, a bit of Friday afternoon (yes, it’s post meridian here by a long chalk) humor and a few tweets that I really normally wouldn’t resist commenting on or criticizing…
Well, I actually started typing responses to five tweets that I deleted before hitting the “tweet” button? It was cathartic writing them, but each of my replies was worthless in some way, either too scathing, likely to be taken the wrong way, a bit much mockery. Whatever. They never got sent and I feel better for it. In fact, I might make #FF mean Fed-up Friday instead of Follow Friday, fed-up with responding when I really don’t need to. It’s the virtual equivalent of just thinking you answer while listening to the gossip at the watercooler, taking a drink and heading back to your desk for the next deadline.
It could catch on, nothing wrong with a bit of peace and quiet every now and then, and you never know the idea might even inspire you to write a blog post…it did me…obviously. No need to leave any comments it’s #FF remember, I probably won’t reply until tomorrow.
