Ditch Adobe Reader, Flash and Java

Adobe Reader, Java and Flash are full of security holes and a common target for malicious attack from virus writers. Use an alternative to Adobe Reader, uninstall Java (or at the very least disable it in your browswer) and get rid of Flash, push websites to use HTML5 instead. Oh, and while, we’re at it get rid of Internet Explorer, it remains a major target despite improvements.
Actually, ditch Windows, go Linux…
