Desperate Attempt to Get a Digg

August 1st, 2007 · by David Bradley

Previously, I’ve discussed the numerous cons and a few of the pros of getting a blog post on Digg and having that sudden traffic spike that such social bookmarking sites can bring. But, on the whole, being Dugg is quite a tough call unless you’re prepared to game the system or have literally dozens, if not hundreds, of top Digg friends who can click your Digg It! button for you.

One particular problem facing bloggers is that Diggers generally don’t like blog posts appearing on Digg and rarely Digg them, anyway. And, if they do you will see countless cries of blog spam, complaints about your Google Adsense ads and all kinds of other moans and groans. Even the most truly interesting and legitimate blog post will suffer if it reaches the front page.

So, what’s a poor blogger to do?

Well, there might be a backdoor route into Digg that is, as far as I know opened only very occasionally. But, it will come at a price. It’s perfectly legitimate and means having no ads, producing a single-part article, with no popups, nothing. Just those interesting words and nothing more.

Will it work? Well, I’ve tried it once, and will report back with the results some time soon. In the meantime, if anyone cares to guess what the backdoor route might be, please feel free to leave a comment.
