Cover Your Porn Gift Browsing Tracks

Now, I’m not accusing anyone of any lewd behavior here, but there may be good reasons why you wouldn’t want your significant other checking out your browser history, surely, online Christmas gift shopping, perhaps, for lingerie…you get my drift? Well check the title if the penny still hasn’t dropped.
Anyway, Lifehacker discussed the hideBad Firefox extension (and coincidentally used the same title as me), which looks like a useful tool for a quickie browser cleanup. However, a couple of things they didn’t mention is that it’s not just your browser history you have to worry about. Are you running Google Desktop Search (GDS) or something similar? Does it add all the pages you visit to its cache? You betcha! And, maybe you are logged into a Google account you share with your SO? Well, if browser history is enabled guess what? You’re SO could spot your tracks like sooty paw prints in snow. There’d be no hiding.
So next time you’re, ahem, shopping for lingerie make sure you’ve disabled GDS indexing and logged out of any Google or other accounts that keep track of your online travels. Incidentally, this post in no way reflects personal experience, really, honest, for sure. Truly. However, the thought did occur to me that while doing research on my name for an earlier post entitled David Bradley: Killer, Lover, Player Puller, things might get rather embarrassing were my wife to see some of the hits that popped up inadvertently. Read that post, you’ll get the picture, or thankfully not, as the case may be.
