Codec MPEG5-ftr a-PR/1.2011 enables predictive video

April 1st, 2011 by David Bradley >> 7 Comments

A new video codec for use with all DivX AV devices including DVD-based hand-held camcorders allows you to toggle between real-time recording, 1/2x speed instant capture as standard. The codec compresses files using a Hamiltonian derivative that pools the inverted probability states of the video pixels, voxels.

A useful bonus of this quantum compression method arises from the probabilistic nature of light’s wave-particle duality made famous in Young’s double-slit experiment discussed some time ago on Sciencebase.com. The photons reaching the charge-coupled device (CCD) within any digital video recording device are represented by a Gaussian distribution curve in which the main spectral peak is centred on t = 0. The long-tail of the left-hand side of the curve is several thousand milliseconds at negative values of t, which means you can review events almost instantaneously. Conversely, the right-hand long-tail has a positive value of t at several thousand milliseconds allowing you to track photons that are at higher probability values at this point in time. This allows the user to record future events at a bit rate of several megabytes per second.

The downside to the new codec released April 1, of course, is that the positive-t recording means that all those accidents highlighted on TV shows such as “You’ve been framed” can be easily prevented simply by recording video of the accident before it happens and quickly removing the child beloved grandparent or pet from proximity to the high-level bucket of water, unstable stepladder, burning wheelie bin, or paddling pool before the hazard is manifest.

Gamblers and racehorse owners will find the new codec an absolute boon, I’m sure.

Thanks to Avi Roy for spotting the prior art on this “invention” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Most_Unusual_Camera

Love the old Twilight Zone, think I probably saw this one in my youth…

Reader Chris M just pointed out that there is a text equivalent of this codec for Microsoft Word. The handy feature, AutoSummarize, has a percentage setting that if increased to more than 100% will write your article for you. Just enter a few key words, and leave it to it! Sounds like Zemanta to me ;-)

I understand that it only works before 12 noon. Is this true?

This would definitely be able to save parents the embarrassment of capturing the baby pee’ing in the eye moment most parents have experienced. Maybe a number of marriage proposal mistakes could be reduced if the system is pre-sending the video of the proposal to your iPhone to check out prior to initiating. All good stuff.

Yes, there’s an iPhone and Android app on the way…

It goes into closed beta at 12 noon in your geotag area.
