Chat with a Random Stranger – Omegle

So, you thought other social media chat systems were banal when you got hooked up with dozens of random followers and friends you never met? You ain’t seen nothing yet. Check out Omegle.com.
Omegle connects you with another random Omegle user so you can chat to each other about whatever. It’s a peculiar sensation when you first connect, with a “Hi” and they respond with a “Hi”, what to say to this person you don’t know? Well, you can talk about whatever you like, they are never going to know who you are unless you tell them and you are never going to know who they are unless they tell you.

My first experiment was strangely intriguing. Turns out my stranger was a fellow blogger but in Taiwan. We talked briefly about music and singing and I discovered that there’s a Taiwanese band with the same name as my Big Mouth choral group. Not the most fascinating thing to discover, but interesting and random nevertheless.
I can imagine some surfers will take Omegle to heart, but I doubt I’ll visit the site again after this first chat. Although saying that I’m kind of strangely drawn to the idea of discussing some other random subject randomly…

Of course, as as Henry Mullen points out we really ought to take our parents advice to heart about not talking to strangers.
That said, my “stranger” was charming, polite, interested, although got a little bit clingy, when I said I had to go, and really wouldn’t let go even after 3x cya, hope she wasn’t suicidal…sheesh, what have I done?
