My way certainly isn't for everyone - I just wanted to provide the instructions for people who want to do manual upgrades. There are those of us who prefer the control. I don't find that it takes me very long. Of course, it's longer than a problem free auto-upgrade but it's just a matter of backing up, deactivating plugins, and then replacing files.
