Get Rid of Broken Animated Gifs Once and For All
February 13th, 2007 · by David Bradley
Not so many sites use animated gifs as part of their content any more. But, millions of sites run ads that are animated gifs. So, it makes sense that the Zone Alarm security suite and similar applications should have an ad block setting that prevents images such as those from displaying in your browser if you don’t like ads. The trouble is, as I discovered recently, tweaking the ad block settings in ZoneAlarm can actually prevent you from seeing useful animated graphics, such as a blog’s Feedburner feed counter for instance, or animated graphics in Wikipedia that help explain a process being discussed, such as the meaning of pi.
So, if there are graphics missing from a page in every browser you test, whether Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, or what ever, check your Zone Alarm privacy settings before you do anything else you could be blocking more than you bargained for.
If an animated graphic is running properly in one browser but not another, then you need to check the specific settings within the browser that’s not rendering it.
