Adobe in denial over freebie CS2 downloads

Apparently: "You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!" according to Adobe employee Don Isaacs on Adobe’s forums.

What is true, says DigitalArts, is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don’t require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available.

The “special” serial numbers and download links are on the Adobe site, but are there only for users legally entitled to download and install the software if they have a valid license to the product. When the links made it into the wild Adobe’s software servers were either taken down or overwhelmed by users trying to connect on the day it was revealed.

So, if you are entitled, here are the links to the downloads and serial numbers. Be honest now.

To be frank though, CS2 was released in April 2005 and they’re now up to CS6 released in April 2012, haven’t they made enough money from the ancient CS2 to just give it away? It’s not like there aren’t countless alternatives online and GIMP that do pretty much the same thing for the majority of amateurs and any pros will be well past CS2 and probably on CS6 by now…
