A quick friendship test

The lucky one among us all have them. Friends. Where would we be without them? You can’t choose your family but you can choose your friends. Friends are like flowers in the garden of life…and we all know a garden is like a good friend you can visit any time. Indeed, to string in another gardening adage…it takes a long time to grow an old friend.

And yet, we seem to be building a world of “friends” we never visit, friends we don’t grow, but simply cultivate…there is a theory that you can really only ever have one truly good friend, an inner circle of friends of say half a dozen and then everyone beyond that is an acquaintance. More than a few dozen in that outer circle and your pushing the limits. So, 1000+ friends on Facebook? How many of them are “friends” and how many of them are beyond even the outer circle of acquaintances?

Here’s a simple test: can you pronounce all your friends’ names? If you cannot, what does that tell you about the relationship?
