A few interesting tech links

I collate the various tech news links I bookmark (using delicious) and get Postalicious to format them as a neat little blog post, here are my latest findings:

  • Guardian memo: 54,000 a month behind Times paywall – Press Gazette – Estimates suggest that a mere 54,000 people globally are accessing content behind the paywall on the Times [and Sunday Times] websites each month and that includes print subscribers who get the digital version bundled with their subscription. This compares very poorly with the 20 million unique website visitors per month it was getting before, although those people were non-paying eyes.
  • How I’d crack your weak passwords – Adding just one capital letter and one special character, such as an asterisk, would change the password-cracking time for an 8 character password from 48 hours to 200 years on a modern PC.
  • Christmas fonts – Christmas will soon be here and there are lots of cards, invitations, gift tags, photos, and more to prepare beforehand. To help you get ready we have gathered together a great collection of fun holiday fonts to help turn those ordinary looking holiday items into extraordinary looking ones.
  • Drag and drop uploads – Anywhere there’s a file upload control on a web page, you can simply drag and drop the file onto it to select that file; if you're using Google Chrome web browser.
